I'm Joining the Denver Yoga Summit This September
Fitness
After teaching at the Sedona Yoga Festival this April, I had the chance to cross paths with so many teachers, studio instructors, and like-minded people who all shared one goal...using movement, yoga, breath, and their own bodies to expand what's possible and build something real with the people around them. That energy is why I keep showing up to these events. It's never about the stage. It's always about the room.

That energy is why I keep showing up to these events. It's never about the stage. It's always about the room.
That's where I met Brittany, the founder of the Denver Yoga Summit. She came to one of my classes in Sedona, and we connected afterward. When I found out she was running a summit of her own, it made complete sense. Everything she's building in Denver is in line with what we talk about in this community every week....movement, education, connection, and giving people the tools to feel better in their own bodies.
Even though the Denver Yoga Summit was originally built around local Colorado instructors, Brittany felt that the knowledge and framework I've accumulated over years of working with thousands of people was something her community could benefit from. I'm honored by that. And I'm not showing up to fill a slot...I’m showing up to contribute something that actually moves the needle for the teachers and students in that room.
I’ve been teaching yoga and Pilates for 13 years. I'm an Exercise Physiologist with dual degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. That combination is uncommon in a traditional yoga festival setting, and that's exactly the point. Most people who come to an event like this are already practitioners. They love the practice. But over time, a lot of them start carrying something they can't seem to fix...a hip that won't cooperate, a shoulder that flares up in flow, a low back that just never fully settles. They've been told to modify around it, rest it, or accept it as part of getting older. What about the students that come into class after sitting at a desk all day? Should they be in poses that promote tons of hip flexion?
That's where the framework I teach comes in. I call it the Compensation Chain. The core idea is simple: your pain is rarely where your problem is. Your hip hurts because your ankle stopped moving. Your shoulder rounds because your core isn't doing its job. Your knee takes the hit because your glutes checked out years ago. The body compensates. It finds a workaround. And eventually, the workaround breaks down.
Your pain is rarely where your problem is.
I rebuilt my own body using this framework after a hockey injury shattered my ankle...14 screws and two plates. I've used it with thousands of clients and taught it to yoga and Pilates instructors who wanted to add a clinical layer to what they already do well. That's exactly what I'm bringing to Denver.
I'll be teaching two sessions at the summit. The first is a functional reset flow called Preventing the Desk Body... its built for anyone carrying the physical cost of hours at a screen. Rounded shoulders, dead butt syndrome , tight hip flexors, forward head posture. We'll move through a blend of yoga, Pilates, and corrective exercise to wake the body back up and give people movements they can use every single day.
The second session, The Missing Piece in Yoga: Internal Rotation & SI Joint Health, is for practitioners and teachers who want to understand why so many people in the yoga world develop SI joint instability and low back issues over time...and what to actually do about it.
Both sessions are open to all levels. Both are practical. You'll leave with something you can use.
I've taught a free community yoga class every Sunday for over 100 consecutive weeks. I believe access to good movement education shouldn't have a barrier. The Denver Yoga Summit is that same energy at a bigger scale. Teachers and students from across the country coming together to learn from each other. I'll be there to teach, and I'll be there to listen.
If you're in the Denver area this September, or you've been thinking about making the trip, I'd love to see you there. Come find me after a session. We'll have a lot to talk about.
